Our Partnership with VOC Znojmo
The VinVin wine bar works exclusively with the VOC ZNOJMO association. The association places high demands on the quality of individual wineries through the first appellation system in the Czech Republic. In addition, VinVin works with other selected wineries from Moravia and Bohemia. The wine bar’s portfolio also includes foreign wineries, such as Polz, Rhoneá, Isola and others. The list of wineries that you can find in our VinVin wine bar is below.
Ampelos
It is the oldest cultivation facility in the Czech Republic and one of the oldest in the world. The company has its own cellars, where it verifies the results of its cultivation activities and produces high-quality varietal wines, which have won many awards at international exhibitions and competitions.
Arte Vini
The Arte Vini winery was founded in 2008 with the aim of producing wines exclusively from grapes purchased from leading grape growers. We focus mainly on traditional varieties that have been cultivated in South Moravia for centuries – Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Sauvignon, Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. Our goal is to offer wines from the Moravian wine-making tradition, wines that bring joy every time you drink them and wines that go well with many types of our varied cuisine. Most types of our wines are made in a historic vaulted cellar dug out of a sandstone massif in the famous wine-growing village of Nový Šaldorf.
LAHOFER
430 hectares of its own vineyards, 800,000 bottles of predicated wines per year, a new, architecturally exceptional production, administration and presentation building. This is a short summary of what the LAHOFER winery entered a new stage of its life with in June 2020. The consistently high quality of products, the own ingredient base exclusively in the Znojmo wine sub-region and modern production technologies remain, but they are joined by supra-regional architecture in the form of the new headquarters for the company, which has put down its roots on the gentle slope of the U Hájku vineyard near Znojmo. The plans for the new winery were drawn up by the Brno architectural firm of Chybík+Krištof.
Piálek & Jäger
The winery’s origins lie with two families interested in wine-making who have a tradition dating back to 1950s. Today these families are connected by the winery, which is run by two friends, Kamil Piálek and Jarda Jäger. The winery has its own vineyard on Kraví hora. It buys additional grapes from carefully selected Znojmo winegrowers. The winery’s total production is approximately 40,000 bottles per year. The philosophy is to make the best possible Moravian varietal wines in small batches. The wines are made using the latest technology, but they also benefit from the experience and classical practices acquired from the owners’ families. The two friends’ biggest success was winning a bronze medal at the large Decanter 2012 international exhibition in London.
Špalek
The Špalek Winery is a genuinely family organic winery, founded in 1992 and farming 12 hectares of vineyards on the famous Kraví hora near Znojmo. The winery was the first in Znojmo District to introduce gravity-flow wine-making. This is a very gentle way of working with the grapes without any pumps, which takes place on several floors, from top to bottom. It was the first winery to start organic farming on Kraví hora. It has been certified since 2015. In addition, it also uses the bio-dynamic preparations carob and diatomaceous earth, providing the soil and bushes with the necessary energy. In 2005, they were founding members of the VOC Znojmo association and in 2014 were named Winery of the Year in the small wineries category by the Association of Winegrowers of the Czech Republic.
THAYA
This stylish wine-growing site in the village of Havraníky reflects the philosophy of wine-making – tradition goes hand in hand with modern equipment and 21st-century technology. Own grapes from 105 hectares of vineyards, handled gently and in accordance with the natural conditions, guarantee a higher quality. THAYA vinařství, spol. s r.o. was the absolute winner in the Winery of the Year 2023 competition.
VINO HORT
One of the handful of domestic wineries that openly admits that it does not have even a hectare of its own vineyards; this is because it works with top winegrowers, personally inspects the vineyards and determines the necessary steps to ensure the grapes are high quality. Emphasis is placed on variety, position, selection of healthy ingredients with a higher sugar content and lower bush yield. The winery’s greatest successes are in rosé wine technology. The sandstone wine cellars are in Dobšice u Znojma; the village’s cadastral area also contains the U Hájku vineyard, where varieties for the production of wines in the VOC Znojmo appellation system are grown.
Víno Vaněk
The Jan Vaněk family winery was established in 1995. It currently cultivates and processes grapes from 4.5 ha of its own vineyards, located in the U sv. Urbana and Dívčí hora vineyard groups. The winery’s philosophy is to combine the gentle processing of grapes using modern technologies with subsequent traditional vinification in wooden barrels.
Znovín Znojmo
Znovín Znojmo a.s. is a stalwart of the Moravian wine industry. Given its size, it is one of the largest ten wine producers in the Czech Republic and its wines account for approximately 4% of all wine sales in the country. Znovín owns 500 ha of its own vineyards in Znojmo and Hustopeče Districts.
Since 2020, Znovín Znojmo has been linked to its smaller affiliate Vinné sklepy Lechovice in terms of marketing and sales.
For many, Znovín is synonymous with an honest and friendly attitude to the customer. The company’s philosophy is based on customer trust. Business partners often primarily appreciate the stable quality of wines and wide product range, which is constantly being innovated. That is why the Znovín wine portfolio satisfies almost all types of customers.
KOLBY
The clay loess soil with its high heating value and the unique microclimate create a typical steppe terroir, which is strongly and uniquely reflected in the flavours and aromas of all our wines. From young, light wines with fresh acidity to mature, full-bodied and mineral wines.
On an area of almost 40 hectares we cultivate 9 white and 3 blue varieties. The winery’s flagship varieties are Riesling and Welschriesling, the Burgundy varieties are Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. The work in the vineyards is mostly done by hand, in the most sensitive way possible. We certainly do not overburden the vines and we take care of their health and nutrition all year round.
In the production of our wines we combine modern methods with traditional practices. In order to achieve the best possible results, we harvest by hand and then ensure gentle pressing and filtration, maceration on the skins, controlled fermentation, ageing on fine lees and, naturally, cleanliness of operations.
Kolby was founded by Oldřich Drápal in 1997 and the winery is now owned by the J&T Group. It got its name from the slope of the same name, which is located close to the winery, on the edge of the Pouzdřanská Steppe National Natural Monument. According to written records, the history of vine cultivation on Kolby hill dates back to the time of King Ottokar II, and some findings show that vines may have grown there as early as the 2nd century.
Diwine
Gala
The Gala Winery is a young family winery located in the terroir of Pálava. It farms 9 hectares of its own vineyards spread out between the villages of Bavory and Perná. Gala’s philosophy for making wine is based on a comprehensive overview of wine-making with a careful approach to vineyard management. The winery strives to continue the historical traditions of Moravia, help maintain and shape the landscape and continue a sensitive approach to the countryside. In the vineyards, emphasis is placed on manual work with care of individual bushes; grapes are harvested solely by hand. Depending on the quality of each vintage, they produce two series of wines. One is the basic ‘Village of Bavory-Perná’, which is aged and fermented in stainless steel tanks and possibly in older oak barrels. For the superior ‘Hermes’ range of white wines, new or older oak and acacia barrels are used and bâtonnage is carried out for ten months. Red wines in the superior ‘Bergrus’ range are aged for 12 months in barriques. The winery also produces excellent sparkling wines using the traditional method of bottle fermentation.
Sonberk
A winery with unique architecture, built in the middle of its own vineyards near Mikulov and Pálava, known since the 13th century and supplying wine to Prague Castle as early as 1522. The Sonberk vineyards spread over approximately 40 hectares of loess soil, which has optimal conditions for vines. The grapes are harvested by hand and in several stages, depending on how each variety ripens, which laboratory tests help the winery determine. It produces original, very natural white predicated and special wine solely from its own grapes. The most popular varieties and the most successful at competitions are Sonberk Riesling, Pálava and Merlot.
Chateau Mělník
The Chateau Mělník winery is located in Mělník château, under which lies one of the best-known Bohemian vineyards. The Lobkowicz family’s history in Mělník began in 1753. Georg Christian, Prince of Lobkowicz, (1835-1908) founded the St. Ludmila Vineyard, planted with Burgundy vines. The winery flourished the most under JUDr. Bedřich, Prince of Lobkowicz, (1881-1923) who introduced the production of Chateau Mělník sparkling wine in 1896, inspired by Champagne. He built the new St Joseph’s cellar under the château courtyard in 1909. The property was placed under state administration after 1948. It was returned to the Lobkowicz family during restitution in 1992. Prince Otakar Lobkowicz transferred the property to his son Jiří Jan Lobkowicz, who renewed the wine-making tradition in 2009 after the reconstruction of St. Joseph’s cellar. Wine production returned to the château cellars, which have an area of almost 2,000 sqm.
Lechovice
Vinné sklepy Lechovice is a traditional producer of quality natural wines in the Znojmo wine sub-region, where vine growing has deep roots. Surviving records of the greatest development of wine-making are associated with the Louka Monastery in Znojmo. The excavation of a cellar was allowed in the château park in Lechovice in 1723 and it is currently used to produce the finest wines. The cellar was completed 114 years later, in 1837. The technical design of the cellars ensures a stable temperature of 12 degrees Celsius and an environment ideal for the making and maturation of wine in barrels. The vineyards are in the cadastral area of the wine-growing villages of Borotice, Božice, Oleksovice and Lechovice. Aromatic white wines are at the forefront of interest in this area. Thanks to slow ripening and a reduced grape harvest, the grapes have the high quality and aromatic character typical for northern wine-growing regions. The Sauvignon, Pálava and Traminer varieties are particularly highly valued, as shown by frequent awards at international exhibitions.
Kadrnka
The Kadrnka family winery is located in the wine-growing village of Březí near Mikulov, close to the Pálava and Dunajov Hills. The family has been involved in viticulture and wine production for many generations and Jindřich Kadrnka represents the fourth generation. Jindřich has worked in vineyards and cellars since childhood. He started working at Mikrosvín Mikulov, where he gained valuable experience, in 2001. He joined the Volařík winery in 2009 and spent 10 years there. Since 2019, he has been fully focused on the family Kadrnka winery, where he places emphasis on the production of quality ingredients, because he believes they are the key to excellent wine.
